Meet Our Firm
Our commitment to professional excellence and our deep roots in California's communities enable us to consistently achieve exceptional results for our clients.
Founded in 1986 in San Leandro by Steve Meyers, Michael Nave, Libby Silver and Mike Riback, Meyers Nave moved to its current location in Oakland in 2003, and is the firm’s largest office. This move coincided with the firm’s expansion into new areas, both in terms of practice areas and geographically. By this time the firm already had regional offices in Santa Rosa, Sacramento, San Francisco and Los Angeles and had grown to 55 attorneys and 48 support staff firm-wide. With a reputation as trusted advisors to local governments throughout the state, the firm had become a dominant force in California public agency law.
Today the firm has over 70 attorneys and practices in 17 distinct areas of law from six offices strategically located throughout California. Still a leader in California’s municipal law arena, Meyers Nave also provides legal advice, transactional assistance and litigation representation to private clients.
Excellence in Client Service
Our attorneys and firm consistently garner positive feedback from our clients, helping us gain a reputation of excellence in client service and satisfaction. Our attorneys and staff continue to provide each client the same personalized attention and collaborative approach on which the founders established the firm. Our readiness to help clients find creative and innovative solutions to financial, regulatory and legal issues coupled with our extensive knowledge of local, state and federal laws allows us to cut to the core of our clients’ issues and resolve them quickly. Clients also benefit from the resources we provide as a full-service law firm, such as complimentary webinars, customized on-site trainings, and timely electronic alerts on relevant legal topics.
In addition, the firm launched The Public Blawg in 2006. The analysis and commentary published to the blog reflects the firm’s ongoing commitment to provide clients and the media with insight and advice concerning the latest trends and developments in the field of California municipal law.
