Meyers Nave Principal Benjamin Reyes Named Assistant
City Attorney for City of Union City
OAKLAND, CA – The City of Union City has named Meyers Nave principal
Benjamin Reyes as Assistant City Attorney. He joins Meyers Nave principal Mike
Riback who has served as the City Attorney for Union City for the past seven
years.
“Union City is eagerly anticipating the legal services of Ben Reyes,”
said Mark Green, the Mayor of Union City. He added, “his temperament,
verbal skills and analytic ability will be appreciated by the city council and
staff. We expect a long partnership.” Union City is centrally situated
between San Francisco and San Jose and has an ethnically diverse population
of approximately 74,000 residents.
Benjamin Reyes is currently the City Attorney for the City of Pinole, and also
serves as Assistant General Counsel for the Northern California Power Agency
and the Stege Sanitary District. Reyes has served as in-house counsel for the
East Bay Municipal Utility District (EBMUD) and Deputy City Attorney for the
City of San Jose. He has also represented the cities of Berkeley, Fremont, Los
Altos Hills and the County of Marin.
Reyes is very active in his community, serving as the president of the Alameda
Free Library Foundation and is a judge in the McCullum Youth Court Project.
He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Filipino Bar Association of
Northern California and former board member of the Oakland Metropolitan Chamber
of Commerce. He teaches trial advocacy skills at Stanford Law School and the
University of San Francisco, School of Law.
Reyes received his law degree from the University of San Francisco, School
of Law, and completed his undergraduate work at the University of California
at Berkeley.
