Leslie A. Thomsen
Leslie Thomsen counsels clients on public law issues from the firm’s
Santa Rosa office. Currently, she serves as Assistant City Attorney for the
cities of Petaluma and Healdsburg. In over 20 years of practice, Ms. Thomsen
has worked for many North Bay cities, special districts and private clients
on matters involving land use, zoning and planning, environmental regulation
and the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA). She has defended a broad
range of tort and civil rights actions against public entities in both state
and federal courts, including appeals and writs.
Ms. Thomsen provides advice at public meetings to city staff, planning commissions
and city councils on a wide variety of general municipal law matters and is
experienced in initiatives, ballot measures and development impact fees. Prior
to joining Meyers Nave, Ms. Thomsen served as counsel to a member of the U.S.
House of Representatives Energy & Commerce Committee, advising on energy,
natural resources, environmental and tribal issues. She also managed media relations
and communications policy. She later served as communications director for the
National Breast Cancer Coalition.
In law school, Ms. Thomsen was a member of the Hastings Constitutional Law
Quarterly and participated in the Hastings Civil Justice Clinic.
