Camille Hamilton Pating
Overview
Camille Hamilton Pating provides litigation and investigation services and employment law advice to a broad range of public entity employers. Her clients include the County of Alameda, the cities of Berkeley, Fresno, Richmond, Santa Clara and San Leandro, and the San Francisco Community College District. She heads our Workplace Investigations team.
Currently, Camille is defending the Richmond Police Department against racial discrimination and retaliation claims. This high-profile case has received extensive media coverage. She conducts personnel and internal affairs investigations, and has exceptional experience as an investigator in misconduct, harassment, discrimination and whistleblower matters.
In her investigation practice, Camille emphasizes neutral, professional, and timely fact-finding. She frequently deals with complex matters. Recently, she completed a major misconduct investigation for the City of Bell and an investigation of a large city’s police department involving claims of discrimination, harassment and retaliation by high-level police managers. Camille was part of the legal team that completed a confidential internal affairs investigation of the officer-involved shooting death of Oscar Grant at the Fruitvale BART station in the San Francisco Bay Area.
In her litigation practice, Camille works with clients at all stages of the disciplinary process, from drafting and implementing new policies to defending clients in trial, arbitrations and disciplinary appeals. For six years, she served as Deputy City Attorney at the San Francisco City Attorney’s office. She specialized in employment and civil rights litigation.
Camille has litigated over 35 civil jury trials, court trials, arbitrations and administrative hearings. She has also served as the President of the San Francisco Ethics Commission. She was responsible for the administration and enforcement of conflict of interest laws, campaign finance reform, lobbyist regulation and whistleblower investigations.
Prior to joining Meyers Nave, Camille served as senior employment and litigation counsel at Renne Sloan Holtzman Sakai LLP in San Francisco. She handled high-profile labor and employment cases.
In addition to her investigation and litigation practice, Camille provides employer training to prevent workplace disputes. She works with clients at all stages of the disciplinary process, from drafting and implementing new policies to defending clients in disciplinary appeals. She handles every litigation phase, including discovery, law and motion, writs, trials and arbitrations, and appellate work.
