Kimberly M. Drake

Overview

Kimberly Drake represents public agency clients in complex litigation in federal and state court. Her practice encompasses tort defense, civil rights, land use, and election law.  She has also lent her considerable experience and efforts to appellate, labor and employment matters touching on land use and development, code enforcement, unlawful detainer, workplace/civil  harassment injunctions, and revenue and taxation.

Kimberly is often retained to work on cases for the Administrative Office of the Courts and has acted as attorney to bench officers and court employees in both state and federal court. She regularly defends cities in wrongful death and trip-and-fall, police civil rights, and inverse condemnation cases.  She has obtained several workplace and civil harassment injunctions on behalf of public employers and employees.  She obtained a defense verdict in an election case on behalf of the Novato Sanitary District.  Kimberly's trial advocacy skills have resulted in a number of dismissals and favorable settlements for her clients. She has also lent her considerable experience to City Attorneys and City Managers in subpoena, code enforcement, and unlawful detainer matters. 

Before joining Meyers Nave in 2003, Kimberly worked with another California firm, handling complex civil litigation cases and class actions in the areas of employment discrimination, insurance bad faith, medical malpractice and products liability. She served as a summer intern in the Government Ethics Division of the San Francisco City Attorney’s Office and as a campaign aide for a local Board of Supervisors’ race. She also taught civics and “Street Law” to high school seniors for a semester.

Kimberly is admitted to practice in the U.S. District Court, Northern, Eastern, and Central Districts.
