Meyers Nave Announces Addition of John Harris to Los Angeles Office
Los Angeles, CA - Meyers Nave announced today that John Harris, a leading Southern California environmental attorney, is joining the firm as a Principal.
He will be located in the expanded Los Angeles office of Meyers Nave. The firm has built a reputation as trusted advisors to cities, towns, counties, redevelopment agencies, special districts and other public entities. Meyers Nave attorneys currently serve as general counsel and special counsel to hundreds of public agencies throughout the state of California.
The firm founder and managing principal of the expanded Los Angeles office, Steve Meyers, said, "As the firm celebrates its 20th anniversary this year, we are enthusiastic about increasing our representation of pubic agencies in Southern California. The expanded office and Southern California client base, as well as the addition of John Harris, truly marks a significant time for our firm."
A former principal and chair of Richards, Watson & Gershon's environmental, energy, oil and gas department, Mr. Harris brings over 25 years of experience to Meyers Nave. He will continue to advise both private and public agency clients throughout California on their rights, obligations, liabilities and opportunities under federal, state and local environmental laws and regulations as well as advise landowners, producers, royalty owners, public agencies and lending institutions on oil and gas matters. "It is a great pleasure to join Meyers Nave. Their strong California base and extensive network of attorneys provides the support and expertise required to meet my clients' ever-evolving needs," said Mr. Harris when asked about his new position. "Meyers Nave has a solid reputation throughout California and I am excited to contribute to it."
Mr. Harris' experience further extends into the redevelopment of Brownfield sites, the federal Clean Water Act and California's Porter-Cologne Act. He also assists with oil and gas lease and sale negotiations, operating agreements, and agreements with governmental agencies. His broad experience has given him a unique opportunity to gain an understanding of the engineering, geologic and other technical issues, as well as the business, practical and political considerations, involved in oil production operations in California.
"We are extremely fortunate to have John Harris join the firm. His outstanding professional reputation and experience supports the expansion of our growing Southern California practice and adds to Meyers Nave's overall strength and ability to provide outstanding legal service to our clients statewide," said Jayne Williams, Managing Principal.
