Please join Meyers Nave Principal Richard Pio Roda for a two-part session on Required Ethics AB 1234 Compliance Training at the Annual Conference of the California Special Districts Association on September 26 in Monterey, CA.
Assembly Bill No. 1234 mandates local agency officials must receive two hours of ethics training every two years. Rich will cover all of the required topics for local agency officials to meet the State law requirements.
The two-part session will address:
- Laws relating to personal financial gain by public servants, including laws prohibiting bribery and conflict-of-interest laws.
- Laws relating to claiming perquisites of office, including gift and travel restrictions, prohibitions against the use of public resources for personal or political purposes, prohibitions against gifts of public funds, mass mailing restrictions, and prohibitions against acceptance of free or discounted transportation by transportation companies.
- Government transparency laws, including financial interest disclosure requirements and open government laws.
- Laws relating to fair processes, including common law bias prohibitions, due process requirements, incompatible offices, competitive bidding requirements for public contracts, and disqualification from participating in decisions affecting family members.
