Meyers Nave Announces Newly Expanded Los Angeles Office

Los Angeles, CA – Meyers Nave announced today that it has expanded its Los Angeles, California office.

The larger office will assist and support their growing base of clients in southern California. The newly expanded Los Angeles office marks Meyers Nave’s fifth office in California.

The firm has established itself as a leader in public law and has built a broad-ranging, focused public agency practice. They have built a reputation as trusted advisors to cities, towns, counties, redevelopment agencies and special districts. Meyers Nave attorneys currently serve as city attorney to 28 cities, more cities than any other law firm in the state of California.

Commenting on their newly expanded presence in southern California, Executive Director Don Oppenheim said, “Our decision to expand the Los Angeles office was driven by our commitment to provide the highest quality service to our clients. Our presence in Los Angeles will enable us to better serve our Southern California clients’ current and future needs, and to fulfill our mission to become the pre-eminent public agency law firm in the state.”

Steven Meyers, who founded the firm, will relocate to Los Angeles to run the office. “Our firm has become a dominant force in public agency law in northern California. Moving into L.A. is the next logical step in our evolution.”

Newly hired attorneys will be located in the expanded office. They include James M. Casso, Ruben Duran and Catrina M. Archuleta with others scheduled to join them in the near future.

Mr. Casso, a member of the firm’s public law group, currently serves as city attorney for La Puente and Pico Rivera. Mr. Casso also serves as general corporate counsel for several Los Angeles based businesses. His past experience includes serving as the long-time Chief of Staff for former U.S. Congressman Esteban E. Torres. Mr. Casso earned his J.D. at Georgetown University and received his B.A. degree at the University of California at San Diego. With the addition of Mr. Casso’s municipal clients, Meyers Nave will serve as city attorney to 30 of California’s cities.

Mr. Duran, a member of the firm’s public law and redevelopment groups, brings significant legal experience as counsel to public entities. He has advised elected officials and city and redevelopment agency clients on all municipal law matters. His past experience includes providing special counsel to a number of Southern California cities. Mr. Duran received his J.D. from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law, and a B.A. in Political Science at the University of California at San Diego.

Ms. Archuleta, a member of the firm’s land use group, brings over five years of experience in environmental law, land use, eminent domain/condemnation and civil litigation. She has served as special counsel to various government entities. Most recently, Ms. Archuleta assisted the MTA with its Orange Line Project, wherein she successful defended two inverse condemnation suits and settled dozens of real property suits on MTA’s behalf. Ms. Archuleta received her J.D. from Loyola Law School and her B.A. in Philosophy and Political Science in 1997 from Loyola Marymount University.
