Meyers Nave Augments Practice Areas with Three New Attorneys
Oakland, CA– Meyers Nave is pleased to welcome three new attorneys to the firm: Samuel Sperry, Camille Hamilton Pating, and Robert Orozco.
Samuel Sperry will bring his considerable years of experience to the firm’s Public Finance Group, which offers public agency clients access to capital markets through the issuance of taxable and tax-exempt public financing instruments. Camille Pating’s practice focuses on labor and employment law. Also joining Ms. Pating in the Labor and Employment Practice Group is Robert Orozco.
Mr. Sperry, formerly with Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe LLP has decades of experience in public finance, with an emphasis in the area of California land-secured financing. He also brings to the firm his expertise in helping clients secure special tax and assessment financing; his knowledge in this arena includes infrastructure financing techniques that leverage land-secured revenues—such as assessments or special taxes levied on benefited property—to pay for public improvements. As bond counsel, Mr. Sperry has represented joint powers financing agencies and municipalities in the issuance of governmental debt, including tax allocation bonds. As the senior attorney in the Public Finance Practice Group, he will be an invaluable resource on issues pertaining to Proposition 218, an initiative measure adopted by California voters in November 1996. He has served as bond, underwriters, special and disclosure counsel on a variety of California local agency debt issues. Mr. Sperry is a graduate of Stanford Law School and of Northwestern University.
Ms. Pating joins the Labor and Employment Practice Group with exceptional experience as an investigator representing public entity employers on actions involving discrimination, retaliation, civil rights, harassment and contract disputes. Ms. Pating provides expert employee training to help prevent disputes involving workplace harassment, retaliation and conflict of interest laws. She has served as lead attorney in numerous jury and bench trials, mediations and arbitrations. Ms. Pating was previously Deputy City Attorney at the San Francisco City Attorney’s Office, where she focused on labor and employment litigation. She also served as President of the San Francisco Ethics Commission. She is a graduate of the University of California, Los Angeles School of Law and of Stanford University. Prior to joining Meyers Nave, she served as senior employment and litigation counsel at the law firm of Renne Sloan Holtzman Sakai.
Mr. Orozco brings to the Labor and Employment Practice Group over 10 years of experience in labor and employment law in the state of California. Prior to Joining Meyers Nave, Robert was an associate at the law firm of Atkinson, Adelson, Loya, Ruud & Romo. He has represented private clients, private corporations and public entities in various labor and employment matters, including Title VII, sexual harassment, discrimination, wrongful termination, class actions and risk management.
An experienced litigator, Mr. Orozco has handled file management from receipt of complaint through trial and/or arbitration. Mr. Orozco is a graduate of the J. Reuben Clark Law School at Brigham Young University and of the University of California, Los Angeles.
