Nihal Shrinath advises government agencies and private developers on land use, environmental, and climate-related matters across California. He is a litigator with a deep background in energy resources, energy economics, climate change, air quality, environmental justice, and water resources. He works at the intersection of regulation, policy, and litigation, bringing a practical understanding of how environmental rules are developed, challenged, and applied.

Nihal’s experience includes work on high-profile Clean Air Act and federal pre-emption matters, which informs his guidance on emissions regulation and risk management. He also draws on experience before utility and energy commissions to help renewable energy and transportation clients understand regulatory expectations and project feasibility.

In addition to regulatory counseling, Nihal has experience in state and federal court litigation. He has counseled matters throughout their lifecycle, including trial preparation, dispositive motions, appeals, and settlement negotiations.

Before Meyers Nave, Nihal worked at an environmental nonprofit, where he litigated in favor of climate-friendly energy policy, and a large law firm, where he supported the financing of wind, solar, and other projects. Before becoming a lawyer, he worked on regulatory approvals for wetland and wildlife mitigation projects and data-driven initiatives supporting climate policy in the Gulf South. His work reflects a focus on balancing affordability, development, and conservation to support a more equitable and climate-resilient California.
