ABOUT THE POSITION

Meyers Nave is looking for an energetic, committed, and diligent of counsel with seven or more years of litigation experience to work in a collaborative team environment in our Trial & Litigation Practice Group, with a partial focus on eminent domain. This position is open in our Los Angeles, San Diego, or Oakland office.

A successful candidate will share in Meyers Nave’s commitment to providing its clients with high-quality services in rapidly evolving areas of the law, will relish the strategic decision-making involved in litigation, including crafting litigation strategy in complex situations, and will enjoy presenting nuanced constitutional arguments in a clear and persuasive fashion. Qualified candidates must have excellent academic credentials, outstanding analytical and creative thinking capabilities, superior research and writing skills, and a strong work ethic. In addition, a successful candidate will have a proven ability to work in a team and across offices, as well as an interest in elevating the Meyers Nave brand and reputation. It is essential that candidates possess significant experience with law and motion practice in state and federal court, including dispositive motions. Candidates should also have prior experience in building a case for trial, including developing evidence, interviewing witnesses, and taking and defending depositions. Prior experience representing public entities or with land use is preferred.

We offer a hybrid work schedule with continued work from home opportunities, coupled with core “in office” days with colleagues to promote collaboration and collegiality. The salary range for this California-based role is $215,000 – $315,000, and represents the firm’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. Actual compensation will depend upon a number of factors, including but not limited to, the candidate’s years of experience, qualifications, skill set and office location. Meyers Nave offers a reasonable billable hours requirement, annual discretionary and billable hours bonuses, competitive health insurance benefits, 401(k) with a partial match and profit-sharing.

A successful candidate will share in Meyers Nave’s commitment to providing its clients with high-quality services in rapidly evolving areas of the law, will relish the strategic decision-making involved in litigation, including crafting litigation strategy in complex situations, and will enjoy presenting nuanced constitutional arguments in a clear and persuasive fashion. Qualified candidates must have experience with public entity clients is a requirement, including familiarity with government claims procedures, constitutional and statutory defenses, and litigation involving cities, counties, and special districts. Candidates must also demonstrate experience managing complex litigation, including electronic discovery and law and motion practice in both state and federal courts. This includes being proficient in motion practice, case development, discovery management.

The salary range for this California-based role is $185,000 – $245,000, and represents the firm’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. Labor & Employment Attorney – 4-7 Years of Experience (Los Angeles, Oakland or San Diego, CA)

ABOUT THE POSITION

This is a unique opportunity for an Employment Litigation Associate to join the firm’s expanding Labor and Employment practice and assume a major role in litigation representing private and public entity employers.

The ideal candidate must have 4-7 years of substantive experience in providing advice and counseling, investigations and training, employee relations and negotiations, and litigation services to employers in almost every area of labor and employment law. They will have trial or arbitration experience including: discrimination, harassment and retaliation claims; FLSA and wage and hour claims, including wage and hour class and collective action lawsuits; legal research; drafting motions, pleadings and legal memoranda; taking and defending depositions; managing discovery-related activities; drafting EEOC position statements, DFEH responses, and conducting witness interviews and deposition, is also desirable.

In addition, the successful candidate will have a background in providing advice and counsel to employers on federal and state employment law compliance, including COVID-related laws, regulations and orders; ADA/FEHA compliance and disability accommodation; FMLA, CFRA, PDL and other employee leave compliance. Must have labor relations or employee relations experience and strong investigation experience.

Candidates must possess a knowledge base in California employment law, demonstrated ability to work independently, while working in a collaborative, client-focused environment, and excited about growing a practice with other like-minded colleagues.
